Bhilwara: Bhilwara police arrested eight people early Monday morning for allegedly spreading rumours on social media about shortage of gas and petrol-diesel to increase views, officers said.Bhilwara SP Dharmendra Singh appealed to the public that they should not believe any unverified and misleading information circulated on social media. Gas and petrol-diesel were available in sufficient quantity in the district, he assured.Singh said the police’s social media cell was keeping close surveillance on misleading posts on social media about domestic LPG. He said Baneda station police arrested four accused, Badliyas police arrested two, Subhashnagar police arrested one, and Gandhinagar police arrested one, on charges of spreading misleading rumours.Police said preliminary investigation suggested that the accused deliberately circulated misleading content with the aim of increasing views and followers on social media.
