Guwahati: District Child Labour Task Force (DCLTF) of Kamrup (Metropolitan) rescued eight minors from different locations in Guwahati during a special operation on World Day Against Child Labour on Friday.DCLTF officials said the children were rescued from the city’s Six Mile and Noonmati areas.“Four children, three girls and a boy, working as domestic help at an apartment complex at Fakaruddin Ali Ahmed Path, were rescued. They were working there for a year. The operation was conducted in the presence of a labour officer, the deputy commissioner of police, and the magistrate,” an official said.The children were rescued from two apartments. They had been for Pulin Hazarika and Abdul Mazumdar for more than a year.Meanwhile, four minors were rescued from a garage, where they had been working for two to six months.“The rescued children are aged between 12 and 17 years. We have filed an FIR against the accused at the respective police stations. The children have been produced before the child welfare committee,” the official added.On the occasion, commissioner of police Partha Sarathi Mahanta called for the eradication of child exploitation, and urged residents to come together to expel this injustice.
