Vadodara: In a grisly murder in a remote tribal village of Naswadi taluka, a 75-year-old woman was killed in her home, with the killers then hacking off her feet and to steal her silver anklets, worth over Rs 2 lakh.Dashri Bhil lived alone in a hut in Gadh Boriyad village, while her two sons live in houses nearby. Police said the attackers entered her house from the rear in the early hours of Wednesday while she was asleep. She was struck on the head with a blunt object, killing her instantly.Investigators said the assailants then tried to remove the silver anklets from her legs. When they were unable to do so, they severed both her feet to get the ornaments off. The crime went unnoticed for hours. It was only in the evening that neighbours got suspicious after Bhil did not step out of her house all day. They alerted her sons, who rushed to the house, broke open the door and discovered her body, with the severed feet lying nearby.Police registered a case of murder and launched a hunt for the killers. “There is a field behind the house and the attackers are suspected to have entered from there,” said I M Zala, police inspector at Naswadi police station.
