Ahmedabad: A total of 714 undergraduate medical and dental seats remain vacant in Gujarat after the completion of reporting for the second round of MBBS and BDS admissions for 2026-27.According to the Admission Committee for Professional Undergraduate Medical Educational Courses (ACPUGMEC), reporting for the second round was held from Sept 16 to Sept 19. At the end of the reporting period, 711 candidates had not reported, while three seats were cancelled.Of the total vacant seats, 442 are MBBS seats, comprising 439 non-reported seats and three cancelled seats. In the BDS programme, 272 seats remained vacant because candidates did not report. No BDS seat was cancelled during the round.The vacancies are expected to be considered in subsequent admission rounds, subject to the schedule and rules announced by the admission committee.Meanwhile, the Admission Committee for Professional Postgraduate Medical Educational Courses (ACPPGMEC) has initiated the second round of online choice-filling for MDS admissions for 2026-27.The choice-filling process is open to eligible candidates included in the ACPPGMEC merit list for admission to govt, management and NRI seats in MDS courses offered by govt and self-financed dental colleges in Gujarat.As per the schedule, candidates can fill their choices from Sept 19 to Sept 22 up to 10am. The committee will display the choices candidates filled on Sept 22 at noon.The latest vacancy figures indicate that a substantial number of seats remain available even after the second round of undergraduate medical and dental admissions, while the postgraduate dental admission process has now moved into its second choice-filling round.
