New Delhi: Nearly 70 per cent of healthcare professionals in India said AI has increased their capacity to see more patients, compared to 50 per cent globally, as per the Future Health Index 2026 India report by Philips.
The global research surveyed over 2,000 healthcare professionals and over 20,000 patients across 10 countries, including 200 healthcare professionals and 2,004 patients in India.
According to the report, optimism in AI had improved as nearly 85 per cent healthcare professionals in India believed it can improve patient outcomes, up from 75 per cent reported in 2025.
Out of those surveyed, 48 per cent said AI had helped them identify or prevent a potential medical error at least three times in the past three months.
When it came to efficiency, 82 per cent healthcare professionals reported improved workflow efficiency through AI, while 80 per cent said AI had improved access to consolidated patient data across care teams.
As per the report 75 per cent of those saving time with AI said it is enabling more thorough interactions with patients.
Apart from better patient outcomes, AI also had a deeper impact on healthcare professionals as 71 per cent said it helped them in improving their work-life balance, the report indicated.
