Yavatmal: Shock and outrage gripped Both village in Darwha taluka of Yavatmal district after the body of a seven-year-old girl, who had been missing since Friday, was found stuffed in a sack at a neighbour’s house. Four persons were arrested and a minor girl was rounded-up, said police. According to police sources, the girl identified as Shivani Pankaj Jadhav had stepped out of her house on Friday morning but did not return by afternoon. Worried family members began searching for her and later filed a missing person complaint at Darwha police station on Friday after Shivani could not be traced.Darwha police registered a case against unknown persons and launched an extensive search operation in Both village and surrounding areas. Villagers too joined the search, which continued late into the night. The operation resumed on Saturday morning with the assistance of a dog squad and a forensic team.Despite thorough inquiries, no immediate leads were found, leading police to suspect that the girl might still be within the village. The local crime branch joined the operation. Police started a search in the neighbourhood and noticed suspicious activity at a nearby house. Residents attempted to interfere with the investigation and avoided inspection of sacks kept inside the house, said police. Upon closer examination, police found the girl’s body in one of the sacks. Police registered a case of murder and arrested the accused, Kailas Vilas Jadhav, Sonu Vilas Jadhav, Mala Vilas Jadhav, Ranjana Sonu Jadhav.LCB PI Satish Chowrey said Shivani’s family and the accused persons had a fight over unspecified reasons a few days ago. “As per the family, Shivani was wearing a gold nose ring when she left the house, but the ornament was found missing on her body,” said Chowrey. Station house officer Shivshankar Mule is leading the investigation to determine the exact motive behind the crime.
