Eight people died when their car was swept away by floodwaters in Madhya Pradesh

BHUBANESWAR: Eight persons, including seven members of a Bhubaneswar family, were killed after their car was swept away by floodwaters in Madhya Pradesh’s Agar Malwa district on Saturday.The accident occurred near the Bagulamukhi temple in Nalkheda town under Nalkheda police station limits.Police said the vehicle’s driver, an employee of a local travel agency, was also among the dead. The region had received nearly four inches of rain in the previous 24 hours, triggering a surge in water levels.Nalkheda police launched a rescue operation, recovered the bodies and sent them for post-mortem examination, officials said.A pall of gloom descended on Bhubaneswar after news of the tragedy reached the city. The family, residents of Jaydev Vihar, was on a pilgrimage in Madhya Pradesh.They had visited the Mahakaleshwar temple in Ujjain and were reportedly travelling to another shrine when their vehicle was swept away by floodwaters.
