Blood in urine is often brushed off as a sign of urinary infection or kidney stones. And if it’s not visible, it’s not even considered.

In kidney cancer, microscopic hematuria (blood in urine) can occur, which isn’t always seen with the naked eye. It may show up only during a routine urine test. Sometimes, the bleeding happens intermittently, so one day it’s there, and the next it’s gone, making it easier to ignore. According to the American Cancer Society, this is one of the most common but overlooked early signs.
