Rajkot: A 64-year-old man was killed in a quarrel over children playing outside his house in the Saitawad area of Jamnagar on Saturday night.The deceased was identified as Ibrahim Chaki. According to police, Chaki had returned home after offering prayers on Saturday evening when he saw children playing in front of his house.His neighbour, Hava Ghanchi, was allegedly arguing with the children and throwing chilli powder at them. Chaki intervened and questioned her about harassing the children and stopping them from playing.The argument soon escalated. Hava’s son, Aman Ghanchi, soon arrived and got into an altercation with Chaki. Police said Hava then allegedly told her son to “finish off” Chaki, following which Aman allegedly hit him on the back of his head with a stick.Chaki suffered serious injuries and was rushed to GG Hospital in a 108 ambulance. Doctors declared him dead on arrival.Police have begun investigating the sequence of events and the roles of those involved. Statements of witnesses are being recorded and efforts are underway to trace and question the accused.Investigating officer V M Dodiya told TOI that Chaki ran an old oil mill. He said that Aman is in hospital with injuries suffered during the alleged offence and will be arrested after he is discharged. Based on his statement we will assess whether his mother will face legal action.The deceased’s son, Sadiq Chaki, filed a case of murder.
