Guwahati: Sixty-two fake doctors have been arrested and 59 cases registered in Assam since last year as part of the state govt’s crackdown on quacks, chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said on Friday.“We’re committed to weed out all forms of evils from our society. After extensive crackdown on the drugs syndicate and child marriage offenders, we’re on a mission to crack down on quack doctors to ensure the sanctity of our healthcare system and protect patients,” the chief minister said in a post on X.The crackdown forms part of the Assam government’s broader campaign against organised illegal activities. Sarma said the drive aims to safeguard patients from unqualified medical practitioners and preserve the integrity of the state’s healthcare system.
