THANE: A 58-year-old man has been booked for allegedly raping a 10-year-old girl in Maharashtra’s Thane district, police said on Tuesday. The accused allegedly committed the offence between December 2025 and February 2026 after luring the child to his house in Nizampura area of Bhiwandi on some pretext, an official from Bhoiwada police station said. Based on a complaint lodged by the victim’s family, police registered an FIR on Sunday under Sections 64 (rape) and 74 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, along with relevant provisions of the Pocso Act. Police said no reason has been cited for the delay in filing the complaint. (With PTI inputs)
