Guwahati: A total of 5,754 candidates in the education and power departments were given appointment letters at a function held at the Veterinary College playground in Khanapara on Thursday.CM Himanta Biswa Sarma handed over the letters at the last appointment letter distribution programme of the present govt. With this, the total number of govt appointments made during the tenure of the current state govt rose to 1,64,423.“No one could complain of corrupt practices in appointments during our time. Everyone got jobs through a transparent appointment process,” Sarma said, while praising political willpower, bureaucratic support, and the streamlining of govt rules for enabling such a large number of appointments.Referring to the education sector, the CM said govt appointed nearly 95,000 teachers over the past 5 years. “Such a large-scale recruitment in Assamese-medium schools and the public education system was once considered unimaginable,” he said. He added that efforts would be made to appoint another 65,000 teachers.
