Kanpur: A 55-year-old man was shot dead allegedly by five people, including two nephews, following a minor dispute in Etawah’s Usrahar police station area on Sunday night.According to police, one Charan Singh, a resident of Nagla Jalal village, was hit by four bullets after the assailants allegedly fired around 20 rounds. He was referred from CHC Sarsainawar to Uttar Pradesh University of Medical Sciences, Saifai, but died on the way.His younger brother, an eyewitness, alleged that the accused arrived on motorcycles and started firing after a dispute. They also fired at him when he tried to save Charan Singh, but he escaped.Villagers rushed to the scene after hearing gunfire, prompting the assailants to flee through fields towards a nearby jungle while continuing to fire, the family alleged.Relatives initially took Charan Singh for treatment in a loader vehicle, but allegedly abandoned it after the accused fired around three rounds at it. He was later taken to CHC Sarsainawar.Police took the body into custody and sent it for post-mortem. The accused left a motorcycle at the scene while fleeing. Police collected evidence and searched the fields and jungle but could not trace them.The family’s complaint named Rahul, son of Ausan Singh, Raja alias Rajkumar, son of Ausan Singh, Somesh, son of Shraman Singh and Asit Yadav, son of Baburam, all residents of Udaypura under Friends Colony police station, along with another person.Charan Singh’s brother alleged that someone had instigated Rahul against him. Police are investigating the motive.ASP (Rural) Shri Chandra said police teams are conducting raids at possible hideouts to arrest the accused.
