Varanasi: A 50-year-old man was allegedly beaten to death by his neighbours over an old dispute in Barji village under Phulpur police station limits on Saturday.According to police, the deceased, identified as Bhothu Yadav alias Om Prakash Yadav, was attacked by the family members of his neighbour, Nanhelal, while he was sitting near a pumping set close to his house.The victim’s nephew, Chintu Yadav, who was working in a nearby field, witnessed the attack and raised an alarm, forcing the assailants to flee.He later named the attackers, identified as Anish, Dharmraj and Satyanarayan.The injured man was rushed to the district hospital’s trauma centre. Considering his critical condition, doctors referred him to the trauma centre at BHU, where he was declared dead on arrival.On receiving information about the incident, ACP Pindra and other officials reached the spot.ACP (Pindra) Prateek Kumar said on Sunday that the body has been sent for post-mortem and teams have been formed to nab the accused. He added that three accused have been arrested so far, and raids are being conducted to catch the main accused.
