The increase takes the total number of MBBS seats across Tripura’s three medical colleges to 500.

Agartala: Tripura’s medical education capacity will expand from the 2026-27 academic session, with National Medical Commission (NMC) approving 50 additional MBBS seats at Agartala Govt Medical College (AGMC).

The increase takes the total number of MBBS seats across Tripura’s three medical colleges to 500. AGMC will now admit 200 students annually, according to the updated undergraduate seat matrix released by Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB).

Tripura Medical College and Tripura Santiniketan Medical College will continue to have an intake of 150 students each.

The expansion will provide more students from Tripura and the northeast an opportunity to pursue medical education within the region. Across India, 1,40,214 MBBS seats are now available in 836 medical colleges, according to the latest NMC data.
