The shops have been shut since their construction in 2021

Noida: Residents of Sector 105 have sought urgent intervention from Noida Authority over 19 shops in a local commercial complex that have remained locked and unused since being built in 2021. In a letter to the Noida Authority CEO, the RWA demanded that the shops be allotted or rented out.For years now, residents here have been forced to travel around 3km to the nearest markets in Sector 104, Sector 110 or Bhangel for daily necessities and groceries.RWA president Deepak Sharma, who wrote to the Noida CEO, said the Authority had built the market at a high cost for the convenience of locals. The persistent inaction, however, has instead caused them significant inconvenience. “The construction was completed but these shops have been gathering dust for years,” he said.Sharma noted that the Authority is incurring significant losses in revenue by leaving the stores shut, as renting them out would bring lakhs of rupees in monthly revenue. The market’s reopening could also bring in employment for locals, providing another way for it to enrich the local community.“On the one hand, youths are searching for job opportunities, while on the other, these ready-to-use shops remain shut and defunct,” Sharma said. “We hope that the Noida CEO notes our appeal and takes prompt and necessary action to bring the market back to life, allowing residents to benefit from the facilities that were intended for their convenience.”A response from the Authority is awaited.
