Rajkot:The decomposed body of 49-year-old Dr Kinnar Desai, an associate professor in the anatomy department of Government Medical College, Bhavnagar, was found at his flat in Gokuldham apartments near Top Three Circle on Thursday night.Dr Desai, who is from Ahmedabad and had been living in Bhavnagar for several years, had not reported to college for four days. Concerned college authorities attempted to contact him by phone but got no response. They later went to his flat, where they found the door locked from inside.After the door was opened, Dr Desai was found apparently in a sleeping position but a stench led the college authorities to inform police.Bharatnagar police station inspector N H Qureshi said viscera samples had been preserved to determine the exact cause of death. “Medical experts prima facie indicated that Dr Desai may have died of cardiac arrest, but the final cause will be known only after the viscera report is received,” he said.According to police sources, Dr Desai’s wife, who is also a physician, works in Ahmedabad. The couple had been living separately for around 10 years. Their son lives with his mother in Ahmedabad, while Dr Desai had been living alone in Bhavnagar.Police suspect that Dr Desai may have suffered a cardiac arrest while asleep. An accidental death report was registered at Bharatnagar police station under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), police said.
