Chandigarh: The MC has announced a 48-hour water shutdown from Sept 30 to Oct 1 for replacement of the 1,200mm PSC pipeline with an MS pipeline at villages of Jhungian and Jandpur. During this period, pumping of raw water from Phase-III Kajauli to the Water Works in Sector 39 will be affected, leading to regulated water supply across the city. The MC has urged residents to store adequate water in advance and cooperate during the shutdown period.On Sept 30, the morning water supply will be available from 3:30am to 9am at full pressure, while the evening supply will be provided from 6pm to 8pm at low pressure. The same timings will be followed on Oct 1, with morning supply from 3:30am to 9am at full pressure and evening supply from 6pm to 8pm at low pressure.The MC has advised residents to plan their water requirements keeping the reduced supply schedule in mind. The shutdown has been necessitated by the pipeline replacement work at Jhungian and Jandpur. The civic body has requested residents to cooperate with the authorities while the work is carried out. Normal pumping arrangements are expected to be affected during the two-day period, making advance storage particularly important for households, commercial establishments and other water users.
