New Delhi: Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has initiated the process of in-situ rehabilitation of 45 JJ clusters under Master Plan Delhi (MPD) 2047, with plans expected to benefit more than one lakh residents.The authority has floated a request for proposal (RFP) to appoint three transaction advisers for preparing feasibility reports for 15 rehabilitation projects across the city.The 45 JJ clusters comprise around 21,229 households spread over 135.7 acres. The proposed redevelopment is aimed at improving housing, civic infrastructure and living conditions, while enabling planned and optimal utilisation of land resources.According to DDA officials, the transaction advisers will assess rehabilitation requirements, development potential, infrastructure needs, financial viability and suitable implementation models for the projects.“The authority has initiated the process of in-situ rehabilitation of JJ clusters under the guidance of LG TS Sandhu. The move will not only provide dignified quality living space to residents living in the city’s slums, but also open a large housing stock and commercial space for a larger population,” a DDA official said.The feasibility reports are to be completed within a year and will form the basis for taking up the projects in a systematic and sustainable manner.The RFP has been invited from firms empanelled with Department of Economic Affairs (DEA) and National Land Monetisation Corporation (NLMC).The projects have been divided into three lots. Lot A covers clusters in Kalkaji (764 households), Azadpur (1,461), GT Karnal Road (1,186), Pitampura (2,312) and Timarpur (1,195).Lot B includes clusters in Badli (2,851 households), Vikaspuri (1,460), Tilak Nagar (1,853), Nangloi Jat (1,472) and Shakur Basti (604).Lot C covers Anand Parvat (534 households), Patparganj-1 (904), Patparganj-2 (562), Jhilmil in Shahdara (1,517) and Shahdara (2,622).The initiative forms part of MPD 2047’s larger plan for in-situ rehabilitation of nearly 17 lakh people living in over 650 JJ clusters across Delhi.“Besides providing improved housing and civic infrastructure to existing residents, the rehabilitation is expected to facilitate planned utilisation of land and create additional housing and commercial space,” the official said.
