The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Monday said that 29.62 lakh electors in Bihar had not submitted their forms and 43.93 lakh were not found at their addresses. The detailed lists of these 74 lakh electors have been shared with the state’s political parties for outreach and possible integration in the Bihar draft electoral roll, the poll panel said.

“All the 12 major political parties have also been requested to connect with these remaining electors, through their district presidents and nearly 1.5 lakh booth level officers. This is to ensure that the entire election machinery, including the political parties, works together in a mission mode so that no eligible elector is left out from the draft electoral roll to be published on August 1, 2025,” the ECI said.

It added that CEO/DEOs/EROs/BLOs have also held meetings with the representatives of all political parties and from August 1, 2025, any member of the public can file objections for any additions/deletions/rectification in the draft electoral rolls.
The poll panel also announced that 12,817 new polling stations will be added in Bihar in upcoming polls, taking the total strength from 77,895 to 90,712. Bihar is the first state which will see the revised limit of no more than 1,200 electors per polling station.
