Buchroo : The 43rd Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), under the aegis of DIG Srinagar South and the guidance of IG SNR Sector CRPF, organised a cricket tournament at Buchroo under the Civic Action Programme (CAP) 2025-26, aimed at strengthening the bond between the security forces and the local population through sports and community engagement.
The two-day tournament, held on September 10 and 11, witnessed participation from four local cricket teams — Baghi Buchroo Legends Cricket Team, Buchroo Legends Cricket Team, Friends XI Buchroo Cricket Team and A-7 Cricket Club Buchroo.
The tournament was inaugurated by Commandant 43 Bn CRPF, Vikrant Sarangpani, in the presence of unit officers, Sarpanch Buchroo Ghulam Moinuddin, prominent members of the community and a large number of villagers.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from local youth, who displayed commendable sportsmanship, discipline and competitive spirit throughout the tournament. The initiative was part of the CRPF’s continued efforts to promote youth engagement, sportsmanship and community participation while fostering mutual understanding and goodwill with the local population.
The tournament culminated on September 11 with an exciting final match between Baghi Buchroo Legends and Buchroo Legends. Baghi Buchroo Legends emerged victorious and lifted the tournament trophy, while Buchroo Legends finished as runners-up.
The winning and runner-up teams were felicitated with trophies and medals by Commandant 43 Bn CRPF Sh. Vikrant Sarangpani, unit officers and Sarpanch Buchroo Ghulam Moinuddin. Individual prizes were also presented to outstanding performers in recognition of their impressive performances during the tournament.
The grand closing ceremony was attended by unit officers, local representatives, Sarpanchs, community members and a large number of villagers. The event served as a platform for meaningful interaction between the CRPF and local youth and further strengthened the spirit of cooperation, trust and goodwill between the force and the community.
The initiative reaffirmed the CRPF’s commitment to community-oriented engagement and its endeavour to encourage young people to participate in sports and constructive activities.
