Nagpur: Aapli Bus service has recorded 41.03% digital ticketing, which Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) claims is the highest among city bus services in Central India. Its daily ridership has also reached a peak of around 2.37 lakh passengers.The civic body said the achievement has placed Nagpur among the leading cities in Maharashtra and the top cities in the country in terms of digital ticketing in city bus services.According to NMC, the digital ticketing system, inspired by the Digital India initiative, has helped reduce cash transactions. This has brought greater transparency to fare collection and revenue management, helped prevent leakages, and accelerated passenger boarding.Transport Committee chairperson Mangala Khekare said the achievement belonged to the people of Nagpur and thanked Aapli Bus passengers for embracing digital payments. “Our efforts to make Aapli Bus more convenient, reliable and completely digital will continue,” Khekare said.She also thanked Mayor Neeta Thakre, Standing Committee chairperson Shivani Dani-Wakhare and ruling party leader Narendra (Balya) Borkar for their contribution towards implementing various objectives entrusted to the civic body by the senior leadership.NMC has appealed to citizens to use digital payment options while travelling on Aapli Bus and contribute towards building a strong, cashless economy. The civic body credited the milestone to the collective efforts of its transport department team and NMC commissioner Vipin Itankar.
