Mapusa: Pernem excise officials intercepted a truck illegally transporting a large consignment of Indian-made foreign liquor from Goa to Maharashtra at Patradevi check post on Friday.Upon inspection, authorities found 400 boxes of liquor beneath a layer of rejected onions and potatoes.“The suspected vehicle was intercepted at 2.15am on Friday,” said PSI Nilesh Gawde. A senior excise official said the seized goods are worth several lakhs of rupees, with counting and valuation still under way.The truck driver abandoned the vehicle and fled during the operation. Authorities have launched an investigation to trace the culprits.
