GUWAHATI: A four-year-old boy was killed and his father injured in a freak bomb blast in Manipur’s Noney district on Saturday.Police said the incident took place at Taolingpung village in Khoupum when the child and his father were clearing bushes outside their house. “The bomb, lying in the bushes, went off when they struck it accidentally,” a police officer said.The father, aged 40, suffered serious injuries and is undergoing treatment at a hospital in Imphal, about 95km from the village.Police said a case has been registered and an investigation is on to trace the origin of the explosive.The tragedy has shocked the local community, with residents demanding swift action to ensure safety in the conflict-hit region.
