BUDAUN: A four-year-old girl, who went missing from the Alapur area of Budaun district in Uttar Pradesh under suspicious circumstances on Thursday night, was rescued in a critical condition on Saturday.Her grandfather filed a complaint with police after family members conducted an extensive search and failed to trace her.Acting swiftly on the complaint, the Alapur police registered a case and deployed special teams under the leadership of the inspector-in-charge.The teams conducted an intensive overnight search operation across the area lasting nearly seven hours.The girl was rescued at around 4 AM on Friday in a critical condition, with visible injury marks on her body.She was immediately rushed to the Women’s District Hospital in Budaun, where a medical examination was conducted in the presence of her family members.Budaun Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ankita Sharma confirmed that the medical examination confirmed rape.Accordingly, sections related to the rape of a minor and relevant provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act were added to the FIR, which had initially been registered only under kidnapping charges.The child is undergoing treatment, and her medical examination was conducted in the presence of her family members.Given her mental and emotional state, counselling is being provided by specialists.Multiple teams have been deployed to track down the accused, with the medical report and other crucial evidence being compiled to support further legal action(With PTI inputs)
