Times News NetworkChandigarh: UT Police filed a case against four women for allegedly assaulting a police team, obstructing them from discharging their duty and forcibly freeing a suspect from police custody.In his complaint, sub-inspector Jaswinder Singh of the Anti Narcotics Task Force, Sector 11, said he was patrolling Sector 28 with his team, when they received a tip-off about Sunny of Bapudham, Sector 26, heading to the area to sell drugs. The police team reached the slip road in Sector 26 and noticed Sunny coming on a scooter. When they tried to nab him, he left the scooter and made a bid to escape but was caught. The complainant alleged the suspect’s wife and other women of his family showed up and misbehaved with the police, vandalising their vehicle and assaulting them with stones. PCR staff also arrived at the spot. As they proceeded towards Bapu Dham police post with the suspect, his family members and associates allegedly followed the police vehicle and blocked it by parking motorcycles in its path in front of Khalsa College, Sector 26. The complainant said they tried to pull Sunny out of the vehicle, causing a traffic jam. Suspect Sunny’s mother Sheela, his wife Jyoti, acquaintances Reena, Shilpa and Naina, and other associates allegedly assaulted and scuffled with the cops. During the scuffle, Jaswinder Singh and two women cops received injuries, the complainant said. The crowd forcibly freed Sunny from police custody, seated him on a motorcycle and fled from the spot. A case has been registered against Shilpa, Jyoti, Naina and Reena under relevant sections of BNS. MSID:: 130994611 413 |
