Daltonganj: Four alleged miscreants owing allegiance to gangster Rahul Singh were arrested from Haidernagar on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday, police said.The arrested men were identified as Vikrant Singh alias Sikram Singh (29), Santosh Ram (26), Madhu Kant Prajapti (24), and Vikram Ram (24). All are residents of Latehar district.Palamu SP Kapil Chaudhary said that a tip-off was received about the assemblage of Rahul Singh’s men, who were allegedly planning to terrorise Doers Construction agency engaged in road work at Haidernagar to extort money. The agency had received a threat call in January and lodged an FIR against unknown criminals. Two country-made 9 mm pistols, two live rounds, and four mobile phones were seized from their possession, he added.The four arrested accused have confessed to making those calls. They have been booked under the BNS and the Arms Act. They were forwarded to judicial custody on Sunday on an FIR lodged suo motu by police, sources said.Hussainabad SDPO Divyansh Shukla said, “It is a pre-emptive strike of the police.”Vikrant Singh has one case registered against him at Chandwa police station in Latehar in May 2025. Efforts are under way to verify the criminal antecedents of the other three arrested accused, police said.
