BENGALURU: Four members of a family were killed and three others injured after the Innova car they were travelling in rammed into a stone culvert near Doddakari village, under Bethamangala police limits in KGF taluk, on Monday morning.The accident took place at around 7am. The deceased have been identified as Devendra, 44, his mother-in-law Sharadha Bai, 70, and Devendra’s children, Deeksha, 20, and Vishnu Sai, 12. All four were residents of Mysuru.Three others travelling in the car sustained injuries and have been hospitalised.According to SR Jagadish, Circle Inspector, Bethamangala, families of two sisters, one residing in Bengaluru and the other in Mysuru, had travelled to Tirumala. The family members had darshan at around 3am and immediately left for their destinations to reach early.Jagadish said Vikas Rao, who was driving the car, might have dozed off, causing the vehicle to hit the roadside culvert.The Chennai Expressway, which was opened to traffic in March 2025, has become a nightmare for motorists. The stretch between Kolaturu near Hoskote and Bethamangala has witnessed more than a dozen accidents and claimed nearly 25 lives so far.
