Khagaria: The bodies of four children of a family, who drowned while bathing in a water-filled ditch at Dhatauli Malpa village under Chautham police station in the district, were fished out by the state disaster response force (SDRF) on Tuesday.A total of six children, including the four of a family, drowned while taking bath in three separate incidents across Khagaria district on Monday. Two other bodies were recovered on Monday itself.The four children — Golu Kumar, Karan Kumar, and their cousins Anu Kumari and Anshu Kumari — had reportedly ran away from their school to take a bath in the ditch, according to the family sources. Their school dresses were found at the bathing site, police said. In a separate incident, a 3-year-old girl slipped into a ditch filled with rainwater while playing and drowned at Pachauth village under Beldaur police station on Monday evening. Anjali Kumari’s body was later fished out by the villagers. In yet another incident, a 14-year-old girl drowned while taking a bath in Kesariya Dhar (a dead rivulet) under Chautham police station. The local villagers, after finding the body floating in the rivulet, informed the police. The deceased was identified as Ankita Kumari, a native of Ballabhjan village, police said.Both the bodies were sent to the sadar hospital for postmortem.
