Kanpur: A shocking case of fraud involving crores of rupees has been reported in Etawah district. The police arrested four international cyber criminals who were scamming people through online gaming and were found to have connections with cyber criminals from countries like China, Indonesia, and Hong Kong. A total of 32 complaints were registered with the National Cyber Crime Bureau. After investigating these complaints, the arrests were made.The police, investigating the case, revealed that the four cyber criminals are residents of Etawah, Ballia, Bulandshahr, and Jhansi. During the investigation, evidence was found in the criminals’ phones showing chats with foreign cyber fraudsters promising transactions worth 100 crore rupees. During questioning, the criminals admitted that they were living in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, preparing for the NDA exams, but were tempted by the lure of quick money and fulfilling their desires.Etawah SSP Brajesh Kumar said that 32 complaints related to cybercrime were registered with the National Cyber Crime Bureau from states including Andhra Pradesh, Delhi, Haryana, Kerala, Assam, Gujarat, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, and UP. These international cyber criminals were caught during the investigation of one of these complaints. An Indonesian SIM card was also found with the accused. Late Saturday night, the Kotwali police, SOG, and surveillance team received information that four cyber fraudsters were standing on Khwaja Road.According to the police, around Rs 80 lakh were found in an account at Bandhan Bank. Upon investigation, the cyber criminal gang was exposed. These four criminals were arrested by a joint team of Etawah’s Kotwali, Crime Branch, and Cyber Crime Police. The police arrived at the scene and arrested all four. During questioning, the accused were identified as Yash Pratap Singh (25) from Sahatwar, Ballia district, Yash Arya (25) from Hari Bihar Colony, Kotwali, Jhansi district, Himanshu Sharma (23) from Madain, Badpura, and Himanshu Chaudhary (24) from Jagdishpur, Ahmadgarh, Bulandshahr district.The police recovered 6 mobile phones, a pen drive, 3 passbooks, 7 cheque books, 2 Aadhaar cards, a Metrocard, 3 PAN cards, 13 ATM cards, a driving licence, 3 QR codes, a motorcycle, and a car from the accused. Etawah SSP Brajesh Kumar announced a prize of Rs 15,000 to the police team that arrested the international cyber criminals.
