Berhampur: Forest department on Tuesday installed four camera traps after tiger movement was suspected in Kitima village in Gajapati district’s Chandragiri forest range. The animal reportedly killed a cattle in the village located on the vicinity of a forest.Forest officials recovered the carcass of the cow on Tuesday and started an inquiry. “We are closely monitoring the site. Presence of the big cat is yet to be confirmed,” said Nagaraju K, divisional forest officer (DFO), Paralakhemundi.Daya Behera, the cattle owner, suspected a tiger might have lifted the cow while it was grazing near the village and killed it. The unidentified wild animal has also attacked another cow in Daria village, sources said. “The half-eaten carcass of the cattle was left at the site. We are trying to capture the photos of the animal and to ascertain its identity,” said the DFO. Forest officials have asked people not to leave their cattle alone for grazing and keep the animals in sheds at night.
