Varanasi: The 4 Air Force Selection Board (4 AFSB), Varanasi, organised a specialised CPR-AED training programme for its officers and personnel on Wednesday, to strengthen immediate response capabilities during sudden cardiac emergencies.The programme was conducted under the leadership of chief medical officer Dr NP Singh, with the aim of promoting practical life-saving skills and enhancing emergency preparedness among institutional personnel.Government medical officer and CPR expert Dr Shivshakti Prasad Dwivedi briefed the participants on the recognition of Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA), the immediate initiation of hands-only CPR, effective chest compressions and the correct use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).During the practical session, participants performed CPR on training mannequins and were demonstrated the appropriate response to a person who suddenly collapses and becomes unresponsive. The session stressed the importance of starting CPR without delay and using an AED as soon as it is available.Dr Dwivedi said the first few minutes after a sudden cardiac arrest are critical. He added that early recognition, immediate CPR and timely AED use, wherever available, are vital components of the chain of survival.
