Nagpur: With just four days left for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) enumeration phase, Nagpur’s verification exercise has identified 10.81 lakh electors whose forms could not be collected or whose status requires scrutiny.Of them, 4,48,223 (9.66%) have permanently shifted, 2,99,647 (6.46%) were found absent, 2,25,627 (4.86%) were recorded as deceased, and 1,04,447 (2.25%) are already enrolled elsewhere or flagged as duplicate entries, taking the total uncollectable cases to 10.81 lakh. Another 3,270 fall under the ‘other’ category, leaving the election machinery with a sizeable pool of cases to recheck before the Aug 17 deadline.Officials stressed that these classifications do not mean automatic deletion. The polling-station-wise lists are being shared with political party-appointed BLAs to help trace electors and verify doubtful cases. “If a BLA or party representative can establish an elector’s whereabouts, the information will be checked by the BLO and an eligible voter can still submit the Enumeration Form till Aug 17,” an election official said.Of Nagpur district’s 46,38,589 electors, 90.79% have now been accounted for, comprising 67.48% forms digitised and 23.31% electors categorised as uncollectable, leaving 9.21% still pending. The latest data as of Aug 13 show that form distribution has virtually reached saturation, with 46,12,292 forms, or 99.43%, distributed. Rural constituencies remain ahead in digitisation at 75.55%, compared with 60.26% in the city.The administration’s focus over the final four days will therefore be less on distributing forms and more on closing verification gaps and rechecking ASD and duplicate cases with the help of BLOs and political parties. The enumeration phase ends on Aug 17, following which the draft electoral roll is scheduled to be published on Aug 24, opening the next stage of claims and objections.
