Hyderabad: As many as 39 companies from Telangana have made it to the list of top 500 most valuable companies in India, led by Divi’s Laboratories with a valuation of Rs 1.7 lakh crore. This was up from nine companies since the list began in 2021.The fifth edition of the ‘500 most valuable non-state-run companies in India’ released by Axis Bank’s Burgundy Private and Hurun India puts Dr Reddy’s Labs as the second most valuable company in the state with Rs 1.1 lakh crore, followed by Megha Engineering & Infrastructures in third spot with Rs 83,800 crore.Aurobindo Pharma is the fourth most valuable company in the state at Rs 80,710 crore, followed by Greenko, a new entrant, at Rs 71,100 crore.Laurus Labs, the biggest gainer by percentage on the list with Rs 59,440 crore, made it to sixth spot after climbing four places, followed by Premier Energies at Rs 46,130 crore, MSN Laboratories with Rs 34,770 crore, Hetero Labs with Rs 33,850 crore and Krishna Institute of Medical Sciences in 10th spot with Rs 26,680 crore.All these 39 companies are headquartered in Hyderabad and added an average of Rs 283 crore per day of value over the past five years, with their combined valuation rising 75% since 2021 to over Rs 12 lakh crore from Rs 5.2 lakh crore, reinforcing the city’s emergence as one of India’s most influential corporate centres, the report said.Hurun India founder and chief researcher Anas Rahman Junaid said Telangana’s ecosystem is driving investment, job creation and economic expansion, while reinforcing Hyderabad’s position among India’s most influential business centres nationally in recent years.When it comes to sectors, healthcare dominates the list in Telangana with 16 companies, followed by aerospace and defence with five, industrial products and automobile and auto components with three companies each. Total sales of Telangana companies on the list rose 47% from 2021, or Rs 83,625 crore, to Rs 2.6 lakh crore.Employment among the state’s listed companies increased 70% since 2021 to 3.4 lakh people. Dr Reddy’s Laboratories led women’s employment with 8,480 women employees, followed by MedPlus Health Services with 8,143 and Rainbow Children’s Medicare with 3,427. The average age of Telangana companies on the list is 37 years.Across India, the 500 companies were valued at US$3.4 trillion, or Rs 323 lakh crore, employed 8.9 million people, paid Rs 3.23 lakh crore in taxes and invested Rs 13,433 crore in CSR initiatives.The fifth edition of the list ranked India-headquartered companies by market capitalisation or enterprise value, excluding state-owned enterprises and subsidiary entities. Companies required a minimum valuation of Rs 10,230 crore, or US$1.1 billion, as of April 30, 2026, to qualify for the list.
