Aadil Lone, a fourth-year student of BSc Nursing, said, “I am in my fourth year, and my course will end in the next six months, but there is still no clarity on the accreditation of the course, and without it my degree will not hold any value.” The suspension order issued by Mewar University stated that students of BSc Nursing and GNM started agitation on campus and were “taking law and order into their hands.” “The incident was reported and, after due consideration of the facts placed before the undersigned, the following students of GNM and BSc Nursing courses are hereby suspended with immediate effect for violation of institutional rules and regulations. The students are directed not to enter the campus. Hostellers are advised to vacate the hostel immediately,” stated an official order issued by the university registrar. TOI has a copy of the order. The order further mentioned, “The suspension shall remain in force until further orders. This order is issued in the interest of maintaining discipline and academic standards of the university.” Officials from the university said that the students were suspended as they locked the main gate of the university as part of their protest. They also said that the course is being conducted as per the directions of the Rajasthan High Court, and an inspection was conducted by RNC to check the facilities being provided, with final approval pending. “When the students started protesting, they were told that they should not disturb the law and order of the campus. But the students locked the main gate of the university, which disrupted movement for many hostellers and staff, which is why the action was taken. We have to ensure that discipline is maintained, suspension orders can always be revoked,” said CD Kumawat, registrar Mewar University.
