Patna: Bakhtiyarpur railway station under the Danapur division of East Central Railway (ECR) witnessed an intensive ticket-checking drive on Monday in which 364 passengers were penalised for travelling without valid tickets or violating reservation rules. The railways collected nearly Rs 2 lakh in fines during the operation.Danapur senior divisional commercial manager Abhinav Siddarth said railway ticket-checking staff, assisted by RPF personnel, carried out extensive inspections on several important trains passing through the station.Abhinav said train stoppage timings at Bakhtiyarpur were extended to facilitate the checking drive.The campaign was launched to ensure a comfortable journey for genuine passengers travelling in reserved AC and sleeper coaches during the ongoing summer rush. Railway officials said the operation also aimed to curb unauthorised travel and illegal occupation of reserved compartments.Special attention was given to overcrowded trains following a rise in complaints regarding unauthorised passengers entering reserved coaches in recent weeks.Ticket examiners and RPF personnel jointly inspected coaches and verified passenger tickets to maintain order and ensure passenger convenience.“Such intensive drives will continue across the division in the coming days to enforce travel discipline and provide hassle-free journeys to passengers during the busy summer travel season,” Abhinav said.
