Vasco: Ankit Lakra, 36, a native of Chhattisgarh, died on Saturday after coming in contact with a live high-tension wire, which came down as he was travelling on the Panaji-Margao highway.He was travelling in a rickshaw, and when he reached near Birla Cross junction at around 10 pm, due to heavy rainfall and gusty winds, the 11 kV high-tension wire snapped and crashed onto the road.Hearing the crackling, Lakra alighted from the rickshaw in a bid to save himself. However, as he alighted, he came in contact with the live wire and died on the spot due to electrocution.The rickshaw driver remained unhurt.The Verna police, who are investigating the case, have registered the unnatural death and have sent the body for post-mortem.Further investigation is being conducted under the supervision of police inspector Anand Shirodkar.
