Ahmedabad: Two persons were arrested while a third managed to escape after police seized a large quantity of liquor stored illegally on Saturday during a raid in Gomtipur. Police said the accused were caught while taking out small bottles from cartons kept inside two two-wheelers parked at the spot. One suspect fled, while two others were detained. The arrested have been identified as Naresh Chauhan (28), and Sushant Sharma (22), both residents of Ahmedabad. Officers recovered 334 sealed bottles of liquor suspected to be brought from another state, along with two sample bottles kept for forensic examination. The seized consignment is estimated to be worth over Rs 2.1 lakh.Police also seized two two-wheelers and two mobile phones from the accused. Preliminary investigation revealed that the duo had come to collect the consignment from a local supplier, while the absconding accused was allegedly involved in distribution.
