Nagpur: As many as 301 industrial plots across the four districts of Nagpur division have constructed factory related infrastructure but their units lie shut, according to information furnished by the state govt in the legislative council on Friday.Industries minister Uday Samant, in a written reply, said and the state has reclaimed 39 of them so far and notices had been served through MIDC to all.Various MLCs, through a starred question, had said 301 plots across 34 industrial areas in Nagpur, Bhandara, Gondia and Wardha districts had seen no production or construction as of April 2026. They said about 411 acres in the Hingna and Butibori estates lay unused, choking Nagpur’s industrial growth and pushing local youth to migrate to Pune, Mumbai or other states for work.Samant said these claims were partially true. Of the plots allotted in the four districts, 301 had construction but their units were shut due to the holders’ financial condition, court cases and other reasons, and the MIDC had served notices on the holder companies. In Hingna and Butibori estates specifically, 153 allotted plots had shut units spread over 270 acres, the minister said. Of these, 9 plots at Hingna and 30 at Butibori had been reclaimed and placed on the MIDC’s Milaap portal for reallotment.Samant rejected the claim that plots were being sold privately, saying the MIDC had no such policy and allowed transfer or lease only on the holder company’s request. The starred question was raised by MLCs Abhijit Wanjari, Ashok “Bhai” Jagtap, Satej “Bunty” Patil, Sudhakar Adbale, Dhiraj Lingade, Parinay Fuke, Pravin Darekar, Prasad Lad, Niranjan Davkhare and Sanjay Khodke.
