Dibrugarh: CM Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday announced that 3,000 youths from Assam will receive Japanese language training, under the CM’s FLIGHT (Foreign Language Initiative for Global Human Talent) scheme, with guaranteed employment in Japan. The initiative comes on the back of a deal signed the state govt had signed with three Japanese firms — Asean One Company Ltd, Jaceex Ventures Ltd, and Meiko Career Partners Ltd — during the Advantage Assam 2.0 summit held in Guwahati earlier in the year. Addressing reporters after a cabinet meeting at the CM’s secretariat in Dibrugarh, Sarma said, “During the Advantage Assam summit, three Japanese companies had visited Assam and had expressed their interest in training our youths. The total cost for the Japanese language course will be around Rs 3-4 lakh per student. The state will provide a scholarship of Rs 1.5 lakh, while the remaining can be self-funded or covered through bank loans.“The CM further said, “After getting employment in Japan, the students will be able to earn between 2 to 2.5 lakh in INR per month on an average. Those who prefer not to work in Japan can work in Japanese companies in India,” Sarma said. The initial training will focus on three courses — driving, IT and nursing — starting in October. “If demand grows, we may expand to more sectors,” Sarma said. The scheme aims to boost global employment prospects for Assam’s youth, while addressing Japan’s workforce demands.
