Kanpur: A joint team of SWAT and Dibiyapur police station conducted an encounter operation in the early hours of Sunday arresting three accused involved in a robbery case.The encounter took place near Heera Mod on the Dibiyapur-Achhaldaa canal track when the police was conducting regular vehicle checks.According to police, the accused, Shivam, Pradeep and Asad opened fire at the cops on being stopped. During retaliatory firing by the police, two accused sustained bullet injuries in their legs. They were sent to CHC Dibiyapur for primary treatment.Police recovered Rs 2.60 lakh in cash, a laptop, a mobile phone and illegal weapons from their possession.The robbery took place on Saturday evening on the Barru-Phaphund road under the Dibiyapur police station area, when a soft drink agency operator, Brajesh Gupta was returning home after collecting market dues. from the Sahar area.The victim said that the three accused on a bike snatched the bag containing two days cash collection, a laptop, a mobile phone and important documents.Following the incident, SP Abhishek Bharti inspected the site and issued necessary instructions.During interrogation, the accused revealed that they committed the robbery along with another associate. Police recovered Rs 1.10 lakh in cash and a country-made pistol from accused Shivam, Rs 1.25 lakh in cash from Aashish, and Rs 25,000 in cash from Ashad, totalling Rs 2.60 lakh in cash recovery.
