Mandya: A rowdy-sheeter died after being hit on the head by two youths in Maddur town of the district on Sunday late night over a petty issue.Yashwanth alias Abhi alias Kajji, 22 years, a rowdy-sheeter since 2025, was murdered by two youths on Sunday night on temple road. Yashwanth approached two youths asking for cigarettes. When they said they didn’t have any, he asked them to bring it from a local shop. When they declined, he hit them. They retaliated by hitting him on the head, leading to his death. The two youths also sustained injuries and were treated at a Mandya hospital, said police.Meanwhile, Srirangapatna town police retrieved the body of a youth from River Cauvery near Nimishamba Temple. Police said Hunasanahalli village resident Pavan, 28, an electrical contractor, went missing on April 2. A missing case was registered at Arakere police. On Monday, his body was found in the river. It is suspected that he had died by suicide. The cops said they are probing the cause of death.Meanwhile, a youth drowned in a tank in Bharatinagar of the district. Chandrashekhar B, 23, a farmer, is the deceased youth. He drowned in Chikkarasinakere on Monday morning while swimming. Maddur police have registered a UDR case.
