Shimla: Three people from Jhuneina village in Darini panchayat were killed when the motorcycle they were riding plunged into a deep gorge near the Bhaled power house in the Shahpur area of Kangra district.The deceased included 38-year-old Ashok Kumar, 30-year-old Pawan Kumar, and 18-year-old Prince. The three had gone to nearby Duli village to participate in a ‘Gugga Maharaj’ procession and were returning home when the accident occurred late Friday night.According to locals, Ashok was riding the motorcycle. The vehicle reportedly went out of control near the Bhaled power house, about 3 km from Duli and 10 km from Jhuneina, and plunged into a gorge.Pawan died on the spot, while Ashok and Prince suffered serious injuries. The two reportedly remained in the gorge throughout the night, with the accident going unnoticed until morning. Their families had tried calling them repeatedly after they failed to return home, but there was no response.The locals discovered the accident on Saturday morning and informed the authorities.The deaths triggered grief in Jhuneina. The bodies were brought to the village on Saturday evening, and funerals of all three accident victims were held on Sunday morning.While the exact cause of the accident is yet to be ascertained, villagers said the poor condition of the road could have contributed to it. Police are investigating the incident.
