Chain collision involving a Swift, WagonR, and a truck injured three people on the Delhi-Mathura Highway.

GURGAON: At least three people were injured following a chain collision — involving multiple vehicles — which took place in Faridabad on Sunday, triggering chaos on a busy stretch.Those injured were assisted by passers-by and taken for medical attention.The incident took place on Delhi-Mathura Highway near Bata Metro Station, when traffic police personnel were conducting a challaning drive against motorists for lane violations on the carriageway from Delhi towards Ballabhgarh.According to officials, two traffic police personnel were positioned in the heavy vehicle lane and were stopping vehicles for checks. During the drive, the personnel signalled a Swift car to stop. The driver, on noticing the police personnel ahead, applied the brakes suddenly. A WagonR car following close behind failed to stop in time and rammed into the Swift.Moments later, a truck approaching from behind also failed to apply the brakes and crashed into the two vehicles, leading to a three-vehicle pile-up.Police said the impact of the collision caused extensive damage to the vehicles. The rear portion of the Swift was severely crushed, while the WagonR sustained damage to both its front and rear ends.Amid the chaos, a motorcycle passing through the stretch also got caught in the incident. A woman riding pillion lost balance and fell on the road, sustaining injuries. Two occupants of the Swift car were also injured in the accident.The collision led to a temporary disruption in traffic movement on the highway, with vehicles slowing down as bystanders gathered at the spot.Police are assessing the sequence of events and the role of traffic management during the enforcement drive.
