T’puram: Excise team arrested three youths during a vehicle inspection conducted as part of an election special drive at Uzhamalakkal, Aryanad. The arrested have been identified as Aryanad natives Gokul (22), Devan (23) and Akash (21). A case has been registered against them under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.The arrests were made after 32g of ganja and 469mg of methamphetamine were recovered from a car near Uzhamalakkal LP School.The inspection was carried out by Aryanad excise team based on a tip-off received regarding the transportation of narcotic substances through the area.Excise officials said stricter inspections will be carried out in the Thiruvananthapuram–Tamil Nadu border regions in the coming days as part of the election enforcement drive.
