Amritsar: In a major breakthrough, the Punjab counter intelligence on Monday claimed to have busted an ISI-backed terror module, allegedly operated by the Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs), following the arrest of three people and recovery of two hand grenades and a foreign-made Glock pistol from their possession.Gaurav Yadav, director general of police, Punjab, informed that the grenades bore markings of Pakistan Ordnance Factory, indicating clear cross-border linkages.In a coordinated operation, one of the accused was apprehended from Ahmedabad with the assistance of the Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), which indicates the inter-state spread of the network, said the DGP.Preliminary investigations have revealed that the module was involved in planning systematic attacks on police establishments across multiple states, said Yadav, adding that the timely crackdown successfully averted potential terror strikes.An FIR has been registered against the arrested accused persons under relevant sections of the Explosive Substances Act and the Arms Act at the State Special Operation Cell, Amritsar.The DGP said the security agencies were now working to identify and track other members linked to the network.
