Dumka: A 13-year-old girl was allegedly gang raped by three men in her village in the district on Tuesday. The police on Wednesday said the accused, all in their mid-twenties, were arrested and sent to judicial custody. An FIR registered by the survivor’s brother with the local police station said the girl was grazing cattle near her home when the accused, who were waiting, grabbed her when she was alone. They dragged her to nearby bushes on a hill and took turns to rape her. The survivor’s family found her during a search and apprehended one of the accused on the spot, local police said. The other two were arrested soon after. The crime came to light when the girl’s mother arrived at the field with lunch for her daughter and did not find her. Anxious family members searched the area and, upon heading towards the hill, heard cries from behind the bushes. While two managed to flee, one was held by the survivor’s family members. Officers from the local police station soon reached the spot. While one was detained at the spot, his interrogation led to the arrest of the remaining two.“The survivor was sent for medical examination and treatment. Police are conducting a thorough investigation,” said a police officer.
