Bengaluru: Three persons died and four suffered serious injuries after a manure-laden truck ploughed into two roadside shops at Kolala near Koratagere in Tumakuru district Tuesday morning. The victims are V Jayanna, 50, of Kolala, H Rangashamaiah, 65, of Katenahalli, and P Bylappa, 65, from Puradahalli. Jayanna ran a fancy store, while Rangashamaiah and Bylappa were agriculturists, police said.The injured are Hanumantaraju KC, Mohan Kumar, Sidda Gangamma, and L Kantaraju. They are being treated at Tumakuru govt hospital, and the condition of Sidda Gangamma is critical, police said. Police are looking for the truck driver and his assistant, who fled the scene, leaving behind the vehicle.The accident occurred around 11am when the truck from Tumakuru entered Kolala. The truck was going to a godown, around a kilometre away from the accident spot, police said. “The truck was moving down a slope. The driver took a right turn and lost control over the vehicle, ramming into a fancy store and a bakery,” police said.Jayanna, the fancy store owner, was the first to come under the truck. “He was standing outside the shop, speaking to a few men sitting in the adjacent bakery and sipping tea. The other two who died and four who were injured were outside the bakery. The truck came to a halt after hitting the bakery,” an investigating officer said.Meanwhile, police are yet to find the reason behind the truck driver losing control of the vehicle. “RTO officials are inspecting the vehicle for any technical snags. We will trace the driver as early as possible so that we can subject him to an alcohol test,” a police officer said.BMTC mows down homemakerMeanwhile, a 60-year-old woman died on the spot, and her son-in-law sustained injuries when a rashly driven BMTC bus mowed them down near Tata Silk Farm Metro station Tuesday morning. The deceased is M Valliamma, a resident of Cauverynagar near Tataguni. Her son-in-law, Raju, has been shifted to a private hospital, and his condition is stable.“The BMTC bus was moving towards KR Market and rear-ended Raju’s motorbike near Metro pillar number 311 on Kanakapura Road. As a result, Valliamma fell to the right side and came under the wheels of the bus. She died instantly,” police said. A criminal case of causing death due to rash and negligent driving has been registered against the bus driver, Umesh MN.
