Varanasi: In a joint action, the Aurai police and the district surveillance unit nabbed three members of an inter-district looters’ gang following an encounter near Bhaidpur village in Aurai area of Bhadohi district on the intervening night of Sunday and Monday. The police recovered two illegal firearms, a 315/12 bore live cartridge and used cartridges, , a mobile phone, a gold ring, two silver rings and a gold chain. According to reports, one Rishabh Kumar Thathera of Khamaria locality in Bhadohi lodged a police complaint on Sunday alleging that some miscreants looted his belongings by giving him a sedative on July 10 when he was on way to Varanasi in his car. They left him near an under-construction stadium in Ganjari. Based on the complaint, a case was registered under sections 123, 303(2) BNS. Bhadohi SP Abhimanyu Manglik said acting on a tip-off, police arrested the miscreants after an encounter. The arrested were identified as Akash Yadav Gulshan, a resident of Manega Ka Pura in Maharajganj area and Ankit Nishad alias Kartik alias Anand, a resident of Shambhupur in Ahiraula area of Azamgarh, and Vipin Prajapati, a resident of Arsia Bazaar in Sarpatha area of Jaunpur. Akash and Ankit were shot in leg during the encounter. They carried cash reward of Rs 15,000,Rs 25,000 and Rs 5,000, respectively.A case was registered at Aurai station under section 109 BNS and 3/25 Arms Act for firing on the police force. Further legal proceedings are underway. Akash was involved in seven criminal cases while Ankit was wanted in 15 and Vipin in one crime case.
