Akola: Three corporators of Akola Municipal Corporation (AMC) — one each from Congress, AIMIM, and the Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar) — have been disqualified after the civic administration declared their caste validity certificates invalid.Municipal commissioner Sunil Lahane issued the orders, triggering fresh political uncertainty within the civic body. Those disqualified are Amreen Sadaf Syed Nazim, elected from Ward 16-B on NCP (SP) ticket; AIMIM’s Seema Anjum Sheikh Anis who was elected from Ward No. 2-A; and Sheikh Abdullah Sheikh Salim, elected from Ward No. 1-A on Congress ticket. As per sources, a few more corporators could also face scrutiny over similar issues. If further disqualifications follow, they could alter the political equations within the AMC.The three disqualified corporators are expected to challenge the order before the appropriate judicial forum. Until any court grants relief, the disqualification orders remain in force, said sources.
